[Solved] Smart Things - Default Open value on a 'per blind' basis

Hi,

It would be great to have a configurable value (in the device settings in the SmartThings app -  same place you recently added a reverse option) as to what the default open % position should be.

I will likely want the open position to be different in each room i have iblinds set up. If i was to change this value at a device handler level it gets a bit messy as the next time i update the device handler i will likely overwrite or forget the value and would have to save multiple 'per room' device handlers in ST.

Whilst i will likely still overwrite the value whenever a new device handler comes out, it would be super easy to go into that iblind in SmartThings and quickly set new default Open values.

Hope this makes sense

Thanks,

Anthony

@adgwill Excellent idea!!!  We'll see if we can roll this out in our next device handler update.

@adgwill  Please give this a try.  I didn't test it thoroughly but I think it should work.

Thanks Eric, from the quick test I've just performed in 1 room - this worked perfectly 🙂

Look forward to getting the rest configured and working later in the week.

@adgwill

Awesome new!!!  Thanks for testing.

I really like this idea. I can think of several use cases where this will be beneficial.

Thanks again. 🙂

This looks like it introduced a bug in the 'openlevel' on line 91 may be setting a string and not a number.

Symptoms:

1) New Iblinds install

2) Smarthings v3 w/ the latest DTH installed

3) Could not open blinds

4) Log showed an error on line 208 in DTH (complaining about data-type)

5) cloud close blinds

Workaround:

1) Manually set "Open Level" property within the SmartThings app (it showed the "50" default but it prob was a string, not a number).  Once I did this things started clicking - but took a few HOURS to sort out.

@zwaver

Try this DTH. It's reworked for the new app too.

Has the device handler been updated for this? I have 8 iblinds and would love to be able to set a default open value for each.  Has it been updated after the above error was found?

V1, V2, and V3 all have this implementation in the Device Handler built into SmartThings.

Simply search for "iblinds" from the inclusion menu and include through the prompt.

You will be able to access the settings through the "preferences" menu in SmartThings.

Thank you for your suggestions!
