[Solved] In-firmware configuration options for close direction and default open position

Bit of an obscure request here, but it would be nice to have a in-firmware configuration options to reverse the direction that the blinds close and set the position to which they open by default.

I have GE z-wave smart light switches, and I would like to configure them to open and close my blinds when I double-tap them.  The switches support doing this directly via an association group, but the problem is that they only send Basic Set commands, with the value 0 when you double-tap the bottom of the switch and the value 255 when you double-tap the top.  My iblinds will close when it gets a Basic Set with value 0, but not the direction I prefer.  It also opens when it receives a Basic Set with the value 255, but again, not to the position I would like.

Obviously I can (and have) set this up using a rule on my controller, but that's a good bit less responsive than having the switch send a message directly to the iblinds unit.

@mbudnek, Excellent suggestion!   We've had a few others request a "reverse" option too.

We've implemented workarounds on the device driver side but that has to be done at the controller level so having a z-wave configuration parameter at the device level is definitely a good idea ( for our users with Z-Wave controllers that allow them to easily set configuration parameters)

We are hoping to implement a reverse configuration parameter in a future version.  Unfortunately, our current version doesn't support Over The Air (OTA) firmware updates.  However, I'm making a note and will contact you when we get to the next version testing phase.  I'd love to have your help as a tester.

@eric Will it be possible to upgrade the firmware via USB or something, or would new firmware only be available on new units?  I ask because I've go some more sets of blinds I'd like to automate, but if the units I buy today won't be upgradable I'd rather wait until a Rev. 2 unit is available.

@mbudnek.  Unfortunately, the current device requires a special toolset to load firmware.

Shoot me (Eric) an email on support@myiblinds.com and we can discuss some ideas.

We have implemented this in iblinds V3.

All Configuration Parameters will be released with the Quick Start Guide, where settings will be explained in detail

So far we have added:

  1. Reverse
  2. Default open position
  3. Disable reset button
  4. Open/Close speed
  5. Calibration tightness (Close Interval)

Thank you for your suggestion!
